Please note that the Chiltern Region Youth Rally, due to be held on the 24th-26th of September, will now be held on the 17th-19th of September. The new venue will be Theobalds Park club Site, NOT Chertsey.

Due to space on site, plus travel arrangements, I need to know who will be attending by the 1st of September please. That is the latest date, but I would prefer if you let me know sooner, so I have a rough idea of numbers.

Has the 'milkman' ever been to a Chiltern Region Dinner ?
My husband and I have been 3 times now and have thoroughly enjoyed each event.
The venue is smashing and very well priced - and it's not too far for us to travel. The rooms are very nice and comfortable, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is excellent and the company is as you you choose it to be. If you're not keen on who else is going to be there and whose table you may be on - then invite your own camping friends and make up a table yourself! You only get out of these events what you put in.
I'm not too sure about the Spring Meet - as there are often so many other excellent meets on over the same weekend, many of which cannot change their dates to suit Region.
Again, running a Summer Ball would be an excellent idea, but due to so many THS's, I don't think it would be well attended.

Several region campers have discussed with me the idea of having a Christmas meet. This could be a joint meet held by DAs and Sections within the region who would like to attend a Christmas meet but do not have enough members to organise themselves.

Would you be interested in attending?
Would you like to be involved in organising a Christmas meet?

Please post your comments.

Buccaneer on "THS - the role of stewards"

What do you want/expect from stewards on THS? On some THS the input from the stewards includes social evenings, quizzes, competitions, etc and on others all that happens is you are told where to pitch and then look for the steward to pay your fees at the end of your stay with no other contact in the interim period.

Please share your experiences of THS. Have you stewarded a THS? What do you like about a THS - to be left in peace or do you want the opportunity to socialise?

I was informed by a fellow camper that extensive and expensive damage has been caused to his caravan (fittings being shaken loose and cracks in the bodywork) due to the caravan wheels not being balanced.

Apparently caravan manufacturers do not ensure the wheels are balanced before the caravans leave the factory so owners have to do it for themselves. Having been caravanning for many years and not heard of this before it is obviously something that needs to be considered by caravan owners.

Does anybody else have any words of warning that they could share with other campers?
